Well, once again this week was one of challenges and opportunities. The difference is often found on the inside of the individual. We all have various events that happen in our lives. We can all look back and see challenges we have faced and won. There are also challenges we can see that we lost.
In addition, we can certainly see opportunities that we have taken advantage of and other times when hindsight tells us we “missed the boat.” We all can spend time playing the “what if” or “if only” game, but that ultimately leads disappointment. We need to make sure that we understand that each day is a gift and how we use it is our responsibility.
There is a story told of a little boy who was visiting his grandfather’s farm in the summer time. Late in the afternoon and early in the evening you could see “lighting bugs” popping on and off all across the yard. The little boy asked his grandfather what makes those bugs light up like that? To which the grandfather said … “I just don’t know son.” Since the boy was not one to let the idea go …. he went and captured a bug in his hand. He then smashed the bug in his hand and found all the insides aglow. The little boy cried out, “I know I know grandpa why they light up! It’s because they have that stuff in them!”
The truth is that much of life is dependent on what’s inside of us! When adversity comes [and it certainly will], what you do with it will be determined by “the stuff inside of you!” So …. what do you have inside of you that will not let you down and that you can depend on no matter what? It’s a question worth knowing the answer to.
